AfterCare

Now that your appointment is finished, I know there was a lot to take in. Don’t worry! Here’s a quick refresher you can check anytime during your tattoo’s healing process.

AFTER CARE GUIDLINES

At the end of your session we talked about your healing process. I offer two aftercare options to suit different lifestyles: Tattoo Armour and Second Skin. Please follow the instructions below that apply to the method you choose. Note: if you do not follow these instructions (unless I tell you otherwise), it will void the complimentary touch-up I provide once your tattoo has healed.

Some other points I would like for you to keep in mind during the healing process is this is an open wound and to prevent the risk of infection. Until the tattoo is healed:

  • DO NOT do any swimming, hot tubs, bubble baths, or bacterial soup of any kind.

  • DO NOT tan, sunshine, UV light. Kills the ink under the skin losing all that contrast and vibrancy.

  • DO NOT scratch, pick, or peel. May cause scabbing, infection, and/or removal of color.

  • DO NOT have strenuous workouts. If you work out at all, clean the area immediately and change bandage.

  • DO NOT put anything not recommended by me on your tattoo (lotions, chemicals, perfumes, scented soaps)

ITS AN OPEN WOUND. KEEP IT CLEAN.

TATTOO ARMOUR

Phase 01

You are given three pieces of Tattoo Armour:

  • One applied when you leave the shop and to be taken off the next morning.

  • Second to replace the first and keep on till the evening. (day after your session)

  • third to replace the second keep on until the morning after on the second day. (evening replacement during the day after.)

Each time you change your tattoo armour, gently wash the area with the soap from your Aftercare kit, pat dry with a clean paper towel and then apply the ointment included to keep the skin moisturized.

Phase 02

You’ve removed your last piece of Tattoo Armour. Now it’s time to clean your tattoo 2–3 times a day. Gently wash the soap I provided and lukewarm water, pat dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a thin layer of ointment. Continue this routine until the tattoo begins to peel.

After peeling starts, switch from the soap and ointment to the soap and lotion included in your aftercare kit and use those through the end of the first week. In week two, continue moisturizing with the provided lotion until peeling is finished and your tattoo is fully healed. Keep the soap, ointment, and lotion, if used correctly, they should be enough for another small to medium tattoo.

SECOND SKIN

Phase 01

I have provided you with a few pieces of second skin. one right after the session and 2 other depending on how your skin reacts during the healing process. It is recommended that the first piece I applied is changed after 24 hours of it being placed.

GENTLY remove the bandage under running water. Do not pull the bandage. Let gravity and the water do majority of the work.  Use your antibacterial soap to clean the tattooed area.  Rinse and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Then apply the new bandage.

When your second bandage is applied, check it for any plasma buildup under the dressing. A small amount of plasma is normal and contains helpful bacteria that support healing, but it should be changed within 24 hours as long as the bandage is fully sealed and there’s no active leaking outside of the second skin..

  • If there’s no plasma buildup or any leaks, keep the second bandage on until Day 5.

  • If you do see plasma buildup, switch to the third bandage after 24 hours:

    • Change the second bandage ASAP if there is any Leaks coming out the side of the dressing.

    • Keep the third bandage in place until Day 5.

After Day 5, move on to Phase 2 of your aftercare.

Phase 02

Now that you’ve removed the last piece of second skin, apply the ointment and wash gently with antibacterial soap 2–3 times a day, or as needed. Continue this routine until your tattoo begins to peel. Once peeling starts, switch to soap and lotion in your kit.

In week two, keep moisturizing with the provided lotion until peeling stops and the tattoo is fully healed. If used as directed, the soap, ointment, and lotion should be enough to care for another small to medium tattoo.
